BOSTON, Dec. 5--Displaying 20 minutes of great hockey, the Boston Bruins struck for four first period goals tonight en route to a season's record 7-2 victory over Detroit at the Garden.

The victory, fourth in five decisions against the Red Wings for Boston, was fashioned in an almost flawless first period.

Besieged Detroit goalie Terry Sawchuk made 14 of his 45 sensational stops in the opening session but was no match for the Bruins' offensive onslaught.
