Crimson Golf Team To Enter Easterns

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Until Tuesday's stunning upset victory over Yale, the Crimson golf team would have been ranked a solid tenth for the qualifying round of the Easterin Collegiate Championships, to be played Saturday morning at Annapolis.

Yale would have placed first, and Navy second. But now the situation is up in the air, with the Crimson's chances having jumped considerably.

But it would be entirely wrong to predict the outcome of the Easterns on the basis of the Yale upset, for the situation this weekend will be entirely different. For one thing, five teams have defeated the Crimson this season, and at least some of them will be at Annapolis.

Also, team scoring will be compiled in a different manner. Squad totals will consist of the four lowest individual scores.

The six golfers who qualified yesterday for the trip were Tom Wheeling, Jim Bailey, Lou Klein, Frank Dodge, Perry Driggs, and Bob Hoffsis. Alan Steinert, who won the deciding match in the Yale upset, failed to qualify.
