Vandals Strike Yard; Steal, Damage Bikes

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Fifty bicycles have been damaged in a recent wave of vandalism around Hurlbut, Greenough, and Pennypacker Halls. City and University police forces have been alerted to protect against further damage, Matthew J. Toohy, Chief of University Police, said last night.

Yesterday about 50 freshmen reported punctured and mutilated tires on their bicycles. Previous to this, other damages were discovered over the weekend, Toohy stated. In addition, two bicycles have been stolen from the Halls in the Prescott St. area.

Bruce Heafitz '62, a victim of the recent outbreak, attributed the destruction to "the little kids who are always rummaging around with the bikes."
