Weather Delays Amherst Tennis

The varsity tennis team's match at Amherst was rained out yesterday, but will be played this afternoon, weather permitting. The varsity is heavily favored, despite the fact that Amherst has several excellent players, among them the Hicks brothers and Tom Richardson.

Varsity captain Dale Junta did not make the trip because of his back injury. However, his absence will not seriously hamper the team's chances for a clean sweep. Larry Sears, at number one, is playing extremely well, as evidenced by his fine performance in Tuesday's match with Harry Hoffman of Presbyterian.

Tim Gallwey, Ned Weld, Allen Goldman, Fred Vinton, and Bill Wood will round out the starting lineup for the varsity. Galwey lost his first match of the regular season Tuesday and will be fighting to return to winning form. The other four have all shown tremendous improvement since the beginning of the year and should win their matches with ease.

After the contest at Amherst, the Crimson will travel to Ithaca for a match Friday with Cornell and then to West Point for a match with the Cadets on Saturday. If all goes according to the predictions, the varsity will take both matches.
