Swimmers Break Freshman Mark
Four freshman swimmers set a new team record for the 200-yard free style relay Friday in winning a meet at Brookline High School. With a time of 1:32.3 seconds, Steve Marglin, Bill Zentgraf, Bob Kaufmann, and Norris Eisenberg clipped more than three seconds off the old record.
After this performance, which team manager Mike Barricks termed "outstanding," the Crimson went on to capture first place in every event and win the meet by a score of 61 to 25. In the free style competition, Ian Finlayson won at the 50-yard distance, Stu Parsons at 100-yards, and Terry Nichols at 200-yard.
Jim Coffman took the 100-yard butterfly, Jim Schroeder the 100-yard back-stroke, and John Austin the 100-yard breast-stroke. John McJennett extended the Crimson sweep to the dives with still another first place.
The team of Schroeder, Austin, Zenno and Parsons won the other relay of the meet, the 200-yard medley. Geoff Movius turned in a first place finish in the 150-yard individual medley to complete the Crimson triumph.
