The varsity fencing team will encounter an inexperienced but enthusiastic Brandeis squad tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the I.A.B. The Crimson can ensure possession of Arvanites Trophy by defeating the Judges in the sabre division.
Jon Piel and second-stringers Lajos Header and Bob Whallon will start for the Crimson in sabre, with Mike Woolf and Manuel Cabral standing by in case Header and Whallon run into trouble. The varsity has already beaten the B.U. and M.I.T. sabre squads and must over come Brandies to win the trophy, awarded annually to the best Boston area sabre team.
In epee, the varsity's Bill Bennett, Dave MacDougall, and Alan Choate should easily defeat their opponents. Dave Johnson, Phil Charat, and Alan Cardner may meet considerable opposition from the Judges in foil, but a Crimson victory here seems probable.
