The varsity fencing squad soundly defeated the Bradford-Durfee fencers from Fall River, Mass., Saturday at the I.A.B. Winning in both the foil and sabre divisions, the Crimson team took victory on total points, 19 to 8; Bradford-Durfee won only in the epee class, and there by only one match.
Sophomore John Nelson, the varsity's big winner of the afternoon, took all three of his foil matches while sparking the Crimson to an 8-1 victory in that class.
Two other sophomores, Roger Barzun and John Kennedy, led the varsity to a 7-2 win in the sabre division with two victories each.
The Crimson fencers will visit M.I.T. Wednesday for their second match of the season. The Engineers have beaten Bradford-Durfee 14-13.
