Howard J. Phillips '62, of Eliot House and Brighton, became the first person in the history of the Student Council to be re-elected to the Presidency last night as he defeated his opponent, Thomas E. Petri '62, 20 votes to 10.
Thomas C. Jones, Jr. '63, of Winthrop House and Sycamore, Ill., was elected vice-President over his opponent, David A. Rotwein '62, 13-8. The position of treasurer was given without dissension to Charles M. Warchol '63, of Leverett House and North Andover, who was unopposed.
When it became apparent that the post of secretary would be contested, the Council voted to postpone until February the consideration of the candidates because of the lateness of the hour (1 a.m.). Ronald A. Glantz '62 and Travis J. Williams '63 have been nominated so far, but there may be other candidates because the nominations were not closed.
