Cambridge Announces 60-Cent Tax Reduction

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In an era when most cities are vainly fighting to hold down their tax rates. Cambridge Wednesday performed the miraculous by reducing its rate by $.60 to an even $72.

City Manager John J. Curry '19 announced that the City's services would not suffer as a result of the reduction. The lower rate was achieved despite pay raise amounting to $1.5 million and an increase in the City budget of $1,619,123.

New construction, adding approximately $5 million to the City's tax base, enabled Curry to lower the rate and still collect the higher revenue.
