LIVE UPDATES: Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
The final stage of Holyoke Center will be ready for gradual occupation by Harvard's non-academic departments by the end of January, Harold Goyette, planning officer for the University, said today.
The move to the new wing, which will be staggered over a five-month period, marks the completion of a long-range plan to cluster the non-academic departments in a single building.
The project, Goyette said, which was conceived five years ago as one of expansion as well as reorganization, is by this time essentially one of housing the existing departments adequately.
The Comptroller's Office is slated to move first. It will vacate Lehman Hall, Part of the Fund Office will move out of overcrowded Wadsworth Hall, and the Development Office will move out of its rented quarters on Dunster St.
The Summer School and Extension Course offices, the Alumni Records and Publications, the Personnel Office and Student Employment Office will also occupy the new wing by the end of spring vacation.
Moving in the middle of the academic year means that some departments must occupy temporary and unfinished accomodations, but according to Frederick Carr, assistant purchasing agent, the entire operation has been programmed so carefully that confusion will be minimai.
