Christmas Gifts For Each and Everyone

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

NOW, SOME PEOPLE have taken to maligning Christmas. They grumble from behind the turned-up collars of their wide-welt cord jackets that "there's too much tinsel in the air." But just when it's getting the coldest, the days growing shortest, and the future looking most barren who can deny that we all like to return to the warm womb of familiar old Christmas? Who can say it isn't great to see that fecund, fetid growth of oozing summer at last driven from the earth as the land is purified by the cold?

If you still have problems coming to terms with "Christmas," start thinking how different it is from the summer be-ins, spring on the banks of the river with a transistor, fall touch football up and down Plympton St. Christmas is a big secret that everyone else knows. Maybe you wish everyone else didn't know it so you didn't have to ho-ho-ho your way down Mass Ave person by person. But let me ask you, what else do you have that you could be doing when December comes in to rattle the heat pipes if you didn't have Christmas? I give you December--Yale game already played and won, Thanksgiving swallowed, all the leaves fallen. Without Christmas, where are you?

CHRISTMAS is part of the flow. It's the catalyst that picks us up and dumps us into the next state of existence, winter. It's the ceremonial rite of staying-indoorsness.

And it's the season when Cambridge finally scores. Christmas was made for places like here, not like Los Angeles, Chicago, or Atlanta. Ours are the kind of streets that deserve to have people shopping in them.

Now, we realize that in a whole city full of mercantile cleverness it is very difficult for you to find your way to what you want to get people for Christmas. And we recognize that getting people things for Christmas is a very important part of the process.

We have, then, prepared for you a guide. Again we're trying to help you. We all need a little help every so often. You'll find listed in these pages the top spots for getting Christmas.

The famous Polaroid "Big Swinger"--one of many of the Coop's famous brand name cameras. The Ideal Christmas Gift.
