The freshman hockey team completely outplayed a weak Exeter team yesterday, while skating to a 9-0 victory at Exeter. The win, the Yardlings' eighteenth, set the stage for the final game this Saturday with Yale.
Eight different players scored, with center Bob Havern and right wing Jim McGill leading the team with five and three points respectively. Goalie John Wulsin has to turn aside only seven shots to record the shutout.
Harvard's Tom Paul opened the scoring at 6:51 of the first period, beating Exeter goalie Reid Pugh. Dave Cavanagh scored the only other goal of the period, six minutes later.
Harvard upped its lead to 5-0 in the second session with goals by Red Jahncke, Havern, and Pete Watson. Meanwhile, the Crimson defense completely stifled Exeter's attack.
Jim McGill opened the third period with a tally at 0:27. Jim Mitchell and Havern followed with unassisted goals, and Dave Payne finished the scoring.
