150 at Rally Ask Abortion Reform

More than 150 people gathered at noon yesterday at Boston's Government Center to demand that abortions in Massachusetts be legalized and made available to all women free of charge.

The rally, sponsored by MORAL, the Massachusetts Organization for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, and backed by several women's groups, was chaired by Toba Singer, Socialist Workers Party Candidate for Massachusetts Attorney General.

The rally followed a weekend conference on abortion and featured four scheduled speakers. In a surprise appearance, Josiah Spaulding, Republican candidate for the U. S. Senate, defended "a woman's right to control her own body."

Spaulding neglected however, to endorse specifically MORAL's legal and medical platform.

Following Spaulding's appearance the rally broke up as the majority of the crowd returned to work after the lunch hour.
