Vandals Smash Doors Last Night at Holyoke

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Vandals smashed two windows and two doors shortly after 9:30 p. m. last night at Holyoke Center.

Witnesses saw three teenagers-two boys and a girl-throw rocks at the window of the Ferdinand Roten Gallery, 26 Dunster St. The three then ran down Dunster St. towards the Charles. There appeared to be no damage done to the artwork in the window.

At about the same time vandals smashed a window and door at the Chester Baker Pharmacy, 1358 Mass Ave., and the door at the entrance across to the arcade. Both doors were completely shattered.

Sargeant Francis Wigfarr of the Harvard Police said that the glass was broken by rocks. Wigfarr said that it did not appear that the pharmacy had been entered, but that a rack of sunglasses was knocked off a counter by the rocks.

Wigfarr said he knew of no other incidents of vandalism at the University last night.

Cambridge police were also present. When asked if there had been other incidents of vandalism, one patrolman replied. "I can't say anything without my lawyer."
