Doyle Leads Six To Dinghy Final

Harvard qualified more sailors for the New England single-handed champion ships than any of the other 13 colleges at eliminations held throughout New England Sunday.

All-American sailor Robbie Doyle, who won the single-handed championships last year. led six Crimson qualifiers. Steve Govinsky. Abbott Reeve. David Little captain Joe Worth. and Rudd Istvan will also be eligible for the finals.

The sailing team began the weekend by qualifying for the New England two-man dinghy championships by tying with Dartmouth in an elimination at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday.

Dartmouth and Harvard, tied with 20 points apiece, edged Coast Guard, the 1969 New England champion, which was third with 24 points.

Doyle. with Phil DeNormandie as crew, was the winning skipper in Division A. Reeve and Jeff Storer. alternating at skipper, were second to Dartmouth in Division B. They are eligible for the championships at the Coast Guard Academy May 9.

This weekend the Crimson sailing team will participate in the Ivy League Championships-the Mosbacher Cup. Dartmouth is defending the Cup. which Harvard has not won since 1967.
