The Mail MECHANIZED MURDER

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Hearty congratulations! You have done it again. In publishing. "Nuclear Bombs in Vietnam?" by M. David Landau [Dec. 14], you have rendered your readers a signal service. If a knowledge of this newest atrocity, using "mechanized murder", does not arouse the conscience of the American people, nothing can save America from moral suicide. And physical suicide must inevitably follow, not at the pace of Rome earlier, but at electronic speed.

No nation can accept what the U. S. government is doing to the peasant people of Indochina-or any other people-and long survive. Moral or spiritual power is the earmark, the distinguished characteristic of a human being. Once this is destroyed, a people are no longer humane. We are nearing that point now. This I feel deep down inside.

We must not accept this; we must protest; we must refuse to cooperate. Millions must march and confer in the streets; and hundreds of thousands must lay down their tools in defiance and protest.

The U. S. government war in Indochina, one of the most barbarous in all history, must be ended now, not in 1972 just before the presidential elections. Otherwise we are certain to become worse than Attila, worse than Genghis Khan and Tamerlane, more cowardly and worse than Hitler and Tojo combined. All the official propaganda about saving our environment from pollution, while committing genocide in Indochina, is obscene. It is an effort to divert attention, I fear, from U. S. government barbarism in Indochina, and avarice and imperialism around the world.
