Spurred by numerous faculty and student complaints, Dean Dunlop has asked the Committee of Inquiry to study the disruption of the Physics Department's colloquium on March 8, at which Edwin Land, president of the Polaroid Corp., was a scheduled speaker.
The Committee of Inquiry, headed by Roger Rosenblatt, assistant professor of English, will soon issue a public report on the incident. According to Rosenblatt, the report may recommend specific disciplinary action, including the possibility of submitting the issue to the Committee on Rights and Responsibilities.
The demonstration protested Polaroid's allegedly racist commercial dealings with the South African government and Land's involvement in that policy.
