Two Crimson trackmen scored last Saturday in the IC4A's in Philadelphia, giving Harvard three points in the contest.

The meet was won by Villanova which nipped second-place Maryland 33-32.

The two Harvard scorers were Howie Corwin in the triple jump and Ed Dugger in the Intermediate hurdles. Conwin jumped 48' 1/4" to take fourth place and two points for Harvard. Winner in the event was Cornell's Glenn Faussett, who also took first in the Heps. Faussett jumped 50' 71/1".

Ed Dugger ran his best time ever in the hurdles to take fifth place. He was timed at 53 seconds flat.

"Obviously we didn't go down there as a team due to exams," field coach Ed Stowell said Sunday. "Even the guys who went down there may have felt the effect of exams."

Stowell said that a number of Crimson trackmen turned in "outstanding performances." Among these was that of Bob Clayton who ran the half mile in 1:51.0, his best time of the year.

Tem Spengler also had a good day. He ran the mile in 4:10.5. Among his opponents in that race was Marty Liquori, who beat Jim Ryun in the Martin Luther King games several weeks ago with a time of 3:54.4. He didn't face the same kind of competition Saturday and won the mile in 4:00.4.

Spengler just missed scoring in the three mile in which he placed sixth in 14:03.4.

Richie Szaro didn't place in the javelin, but his throw of 221 feet was one of his best throws of the year.

Walter Johnson didn't place in the 12 high hurdles, but turned in a strong performance of 14.5 seconds.

The joint Harvard-Yale squad leaves for England for the Oxford-Cambridge meet next Tuesday evening. The 31-man squad includes 21 Crimson runners.
