RED SOX OVER BLUE

Dwight Evan hoisted a Vida Blue fastball down the right field line for a three-run homer and Luis Tiant scattered six Oakland hits to lead the Red Sox to a 4-1 triumph over the A's last night in Fenway Park.

Evans capped a four-run fifth frame against Blue (5-6), whose fire-balling ways netted ten Boston strikeouts.

The Oaklands picked up an unearned run in the sixth when Reggie Jackson lifted a high, wind-blown double off the left-field wall to score Sal Bando.
