Harvard Faculty Are Candidates To Head Brown

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Brown University committee seeking a successor to former president Donald F. Hornig '40 has trimmed its list of possibilities down to 15, possibly including some Harvard faculty members.

A student member of the committee said yesterday that although it is against committee policy to discuss any of the 15 names with anyone not involved in the selection process, some Harvard professors are being considered.

The student, who asked not to be identified, said several Harvard names were on an earlier list and that some of those remained on the current list.

The student said that no member of the Harvard administration was now being considered.

The student-faculty committee hopes to submit a final list of three to seven candidates to the Brown Board of Trustees in late January, along with the committee's recommendation on the best-qualified person on the list.
