Pamela Jiminez Dies After Illness

Pamela Jiminez, wife of Michael Jiminez, assistant senior tutor of North House, died Monday night of cancer after a prolonged illness. She was 30 years old.

The Jiminezes have lived in North House since 1974. Pamela Jiminez was not a tutor in the House but was involved in House activities, organizing occasional social events. She taught first grade in West Bridgewater, Ma.

Hanna Hastings, co-master of North House, said yesterday "everyone was very saddened, but Pam died in peace. She was loved by all."

Jiminez was born in St. Louis, Missouri and received her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College. She earned her M.A. degree in elementary education from Boston College and has been a schoolteacher for the past few years.

Several North House students said yesterday they were saddened by Jiminez's death but were relieved that she is no longer suffering. Janet E. Mazur '78 said "Pam and Mike have almost been parents to all of us. Pam will be missed greatly."

Elisa Botta '78 said yesterday "for Pam, people came first. She was one of the rare people in the Harvard community who truly loved and cared about other people.
