Harvard right fullback Lorenzo DiBonaventura was named Ivy League Soccer Player of the Week yesterday for his outstanding play last week against Williams and Princeton.

Soccer coach George Ford said after Saturday's game that DiBonaventura is playing "outstanding soccer" and having his "best year by far."

DiBonaventura proved particularly valuable against Princeton with his long forward runs that gave the Crimson defense opportunities to regroup.

He also played solid defensive soccer, tackling hard and using his strength to battle Tiger forwards for the ball. Several times Saturday his sliding tackles bought the rest of the Crimson backs time to get into position and stall Princeton attacks.

Ford said after the game, "His penetrating runs helped us out when we were a bit out of touch in midfield. He's very confident moving forward, and takes a bit of pressure off our defense," Ford added.
