NEW HAVEN, Conn.--A. Bartlett Giamatti, president of Yale University, last week criticized the Reagan administration's plans for more reductions in spending on education.
Speaking at a press briefing on this month's meeting of the Yale Corporation, Giamatti said Yale does not plan to accept more cuts in its federal funding without a fight, the Yale Daily News reported.
"There are some cuts you must be able to make in defense,' Giamatti said, adding that "To continue to cut in education is shortsighted."
The corporation will turn to its new advisory committee on governmental relations for help in lobbying against further education cuts, he said.
