LOS ANGELES-The Harvard men's tennis team lost to number one seeded Stanford, 8-1, yesterday afternoon at the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association National Team Tennis Tournament. The unseeded Crimson, which beat number eight-seeded Miami on Thursday, won only first doubles when Dave Beckman and Rob Loud teamed to beat Stanford's Jim Brabb and John Letts, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Harvard, which took Stanford to three sets in three of the eight matches it lost, will now play number four-seeded Trinity (Texas). Division I champion Stanford beat Harvard in the NCAA tournament last season, 6-1.

Harvard junior Co-Captain Beckman lost in three sets in number two singles to Brabb, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, and sophomore Larry Scott dropped his number three singles match to Stanford's Eric Rosenfeld by an identical score. In doubles, the Crimson's third learn of Ken Kleinfeld and Dave Clark lost to Gordie McKay and Mark McKeen 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
