The Harvard men's heavyweight varsity and J.V. eights leave today for California, where they will compete in Saturday's San Diego Crew Classic.
The regatta serves as the season opener for Harvard, which will face 11 of the nation's top teams, including Yale, Navy, Stanford, Washington and the University of California at Berkeley.
Brown, which finished second to Harvard in last year's Eastern Sprints, will not compete in Saturday's "warmup"-the Bruins are gearing up for next weekend's contest with the Crimson.
Harvard's boats practiced together for the second time yesterday. "We don't expect to blow everybody away," senior Captain Bill Fitzgerald said, adding "It's a fun regatta."
