An article in yesterday's Crimson quoted Frank Costello, an aide to Boston Mayor Raymond L. Flynn, as denying that the mayor is considering a proposal for a $75 tax on students. "Someone wrote something they heard that was not true," he said, referring to an article in Thursday's Boston Globe on the proposal.
A reporter for the Globe, Michael Frisby, yesterday defended the article and said that the Globe's report was based on an internal City Hall memorandum.
