The Harvard wrestling team kept its hopes for its first ever Ivy League crown alive this weekend by sweeping past Brown, 23-18.

The matmen (4-1 Ivy, 12-6 overall) must now count on Princeton (4-0 Ivy) to lose to either Cornell or Columbia next weekend. Harvard defeated both Cornell and Columbia earlier in the season.

"It's not unlikely at all that [Princeton] will lose one of the two," Coach John Lee predicts, adding that even a tie for the title would be a tremendous victory for the Crimson. No Harvard wrestling team has ever won or tied for the Ivy League title in its more than 30-year history.

In other weekend action, the matmen were whitewashed by Army, 380. The match, however, was not as lopsided as the score indicates as seven of the matches were decided by a difference of one of two-points.

The Standings

Currently, Harvard, holds second place in the Ivies, Columbia (3-1), which upset Cornell (2-2) this weekend moved into sole possession of third place and Cornell dropped into fourth.

With just one weekend left in the duel meet season, three teams--Princeton, Harvard, and Columbia--all still have a chance to tie for the crown.

Princeton, however, is the only team still able to control its destiny.

For Harvard to win the title outright, Princeton must lose to both Cornell and Columbia and the Crimson must defeat Yale. In order to tie for the title. Harvard must defeat Yale and hope that Princeton loses to either Cornell or Columbia.

To win the crown, Princeton must defeat Columbia and Cornell. For Columbia to tie for the title, they must defeat Princeton, and to win it, they must defeat Princeton, hope that Princeton falls to Columbia and that Harvard loses to Yale.
