Wrestling
Despite five individual wins, including one pin, the Harvard wrestling team dropped a hard-fought contest to Brown, 24-19, at the Only Athletic Center in Providence, RI, yesterday afternoon.
In the second half of the wrestling twin-bill, however, victories from all of the squad's upperclassmen boosted the Crimson (now 10-7 overall, 1-3 Ivy) to a 30-13 triumph over Plymouth State.
The grapplers were severely weakened in their bid for victory over the Bruins because of injuries sustained earlier this week by both 150-lb. Jerry Greenberg and 190-lb. Dave Bunning.
Fencing
Playing for just the second time in their new facilities at the Malkin Athletic Center, Harvard's men's and women's fencing teams trounced both the City College of New York (CCNY) and Tufts last night.
The men (12-1 overall, 2-1) blew out CCNY, 20-7, and Tufts, 23-4, although both team captains did not fence.
After losing in their debut at the MAC earlier this week, the women fencers whipped both visiting teams, 12-4, upping their record to 7-5 overall, 1-2 Ivy.
