Not even the top sailors in the region could contend with this weekend's powerful winds, as both the coed and women's Atlantic Coast Championships were cancelled last weekend after a host of early boats capsized.
While the men's team had failed to qualify for the ACC's, the women's team missed out on a hard-earned and momentous trip to the championships.
"It was a great disappointment that we didn't get a chance to show ourselves in the top regatta of the season," said Tanya Clement, a freshman who was slated to sail in the weekend's event.
Coming Attractions
This coming week, coed Captain Jim Bowers will sail with Assistant Coach Mike O'Connor to the Snow and Satisfaction Regatta, an invitation-only regatta open to current All-Americas and top alumni from around North America. The three-day competition--which in the past has hosted sailors such as Dennis Conner--will feature high-level sailing in a relaxed atmosphere.
