When William F. Weld '66 was elected governor, he severed his ties to one of Boston's all-male elite social clubs. Not so for State Treasurer Joseph D. Malone '78, who continues to serve on the graduate board of Harvard's all-male Pi Eta Club. One Malone aide asserted that the club--which recently settled out-of-court over an alleged rape there--was a significant part of Joe's "undergraduate experience."

The Big Question

Radcliffe President Linda S. Wilson this week released the long-awaited results of her Strategic Planning Initiative, answering the nagging question "What is Radcliffe College Today?" The answer: "It is a distinguished educational institution with a unique partnership with Harvard," among other things. Wilson must be very good at choosing her words: She was able to summarize her vision of Radcliffe in 11 double-spaced pages.

Run From the Border

Those who frequent the Border Cafe, that trendy Church St. Tex-Mex-Cajun restaurant/watering hole, may love excitement, but not this much excitement. In a terrifying incident this week, a man, attempting to apprehend an alleged beer thief, was stabbed in the back three times, according to eyewitness accounts. Arrest warrants have been issued for both the alleged thief and stabber, and the victim is in stable condition.
