Overseers Convene

By Stephen E. Frank

Members of the University's Board of Overseers participated in a marathon day of back-to-back meetings yesterday at their last gathering of the academic year.

The group listened to an address from President Neil L. Rudenstine on the progress of the planning process for Harvard's upcoming $2 billion capital campaign--the largest such fund drive in the history of higher education. Among the outgoing members of the group are Andrew F. Brimmer, a prominent financial consultant, who this year concludes a rare second term on the board, and Vice President Al Gore '69, whose arrival at the dinner was marked by heavy security and a motorcade of about 30 motorcycle police officers, assorted other cars and an ambulance.

"He took that responsibility [to the overseers] very seriously and wanted to attend his last meeting," said Marla Romash, Gore's communications director.
