POWER GOES OUT ON JFK BARS DURING AMERICAN LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

Baseball fans hoping to watch Game 5 of the Seattle-New York series Sunday night were disappointed when the cable television access in some bars on JFK St. failed.

"It hurt business a lot," said Pizzeria Uno bartender Justin D. Miller. "I was telling everybody the whole block was out so people wouldn't leave."

A bartender at Shay's Pub and Wine Bar on JFK St. said the bar's cable functioned during the game. According to Miller, cable was out at the Crimson Sports Grille, but no one at the Grille could comment.

Miller estimates that at least 25 customers rushed out of Uno's, hoping to find a place to watch the game.

"They were understanding, but a lot of people left," he said.

Uno's cable has been out since Friday, Miller added. He said Continental Communications was scheduled to look at the problem yesterday.

Too late for Miller, a self-described baseball and football fan who had planned to watch the crucial game while working behind the counter.

"It was awful, especially when I found out this morning how great the game was," he said.
