It seems like every time I open your paper there is a hysterical opinion column about proposed cuts in student financial aid. This gets very tiresome, reading the same thing over and over. Furthermore, the tone of the articles usually seems to reflect an attitude that there is some sort of divine right to attend college--at someone else's expense.

I say, if the budget needs to be balanced which clearly it does, then everyone must share the pain--even, God forbid college students. This is especially true at Harvard, where graduates often earn large incomes; it's hard to claim that we need subsidies paid for by the tax dollars of blue-collar workers. Sean Peirce '98
