Senior shooting guard Elizabeth "Buzz" Proudfit played her best game of the season in the biggest game of her life.
The 5'6" co-captain of the women's basketball team scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists in Harvard's 100-83 loss to Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Proudfit, a career 1,000 point scorer, used spectacular dribble-penetration and a deadly outside game, leading the Crimson to a 41-40 halftime edge over the heavily-favored Commodores.
Proudfit, who endured a 7-19 campaign during her sophomore season, has played an enormous role in the resurgence of Harvard women's basketball, finishing second on the team in scoring and assists this season.
While the Crimson has the talent to return to the NCAA Tournament, it will be hard-pressed to find a replacement for Buzz.
