Junior Dave Demian was named the 1996-97 captain of the Harvard men's basketball team.

Demian, an off-guard who has played on the varsity squad since the end of his freshman year, averaged 5.2 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game in 22 starts and hit 40.4 percent of his three-pointers.

He takes the position which has been held by senior Darren Rankin this season.

In other team news, junior Kyle Snowden was chosen as the Crimson's Most Valuable Player for the '95-'96 season. Snowden led the team in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (11.1 rpg). His reboundning was good enough to be first in the Ivies and 10th in the nation, and the Mather House resident was named to the First-Team All-Ivy squad.

Also, sophomore Mike Scott won the Hamilton Fish '10 Most Improved Award, senior Tarlin Ray was given the Floyd S. Wilson Sportsmanship Award and Rankin was recognized with the John Harnice '84 Spirit Award.
