Citizens Deserve a Say in Their Government’s Investments

To the editors:

Re “Israel Divestment Debate Reignited,” News, Apr. 27:

Very few people in Somerville feel entirely comfortable investing Somerville money in Israeli securities. One wonders why Somerville does not invest in any foreign country but Israel.

It is un-American to deny the public a say in where its tax money goes. That’s called taxation without representation. Somerville residents fought a war over that in the past. Israeli investments divide the community. Let’s drop them.
