Currier Will Move The Party, Not End It

Re: “Party’s Over: Currier TLR To Be Reading Room,” news, Apr. 17.

I was surprised that the article written about the renovations planned for Currier House was titled “Party’s Over.” The party is not over.

The article gives the impression that Currier House is losing its trademark party space and that there is a heavy amount of disapproval within the House for the changes. After soliciting input from Currier residents, however, the Currier House Committee found that the renovations are overwhelmingly supported.

While the article does manage to fit in all of the renovations that will take place, I feel that it does not do justice to the benefit these changes will bring. The reading room that will replace the TLR will finally provide Currier residents with a legitimate workspace alternative to the dining hall. A new party space that is bigger and potentially more “hooked up” than the TLR will be constructed where the art studio currently is. The art studio will relocate within the Quad so that we do not lose an art space entirely.

Party on, Garth. Study on, Cindy. Paint on, Roger.
