The Harvard sailing team competed in three year-end regattas since the conclusion of the school year, sailing to a fourth-, a fifth- and a 10th-place finish at nationals competition.

The No. 5 co-ed squad took 10th place at the Gill Co-ed National Championship hosted by the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. The Crimson finished in sixth place in B-division and 11th in A, earning 301 total points, just 34 fewer than Hobart/William Smith in 11th place. College of Charleston was crowned as the 2007 national champions, beating Dartmouth in a one-point nail-biter.

Junior captain Kyle Kovacs sailed with junior crew Elyse Dolbec and sophomore crew Christina Cordeiro in B-division, while senior skipper Clay Johnson and senior crew Kristen Lynch sailed the final regatta of their career in the three-day race that ended June 1.

The ICSA Team Race Nationals were held May 27-29, resulting in a fourth-place finish for Harvard. Johnson, Lynch, Kovacs, Dolbec, senior skipper Matthew Knowles, and senior crew Emily Simon earned the Crimson the first of two top-five finishes in less thank a week. St. Mary’s won the team race championship with a 12-5 overall record.

The No. 9 women’s team took fifth-place at the ICSA’s Women’s National Championship, held May 23-25. St. Mary’s was the winner there as well, while sophomore captain skipper Megan Watson and crew Simon paced Harvard’s fourth-place finish in A-division.

In B-division, sophomore skipper Roberta Steele and sophomore crew Lauren Brants took fifth place overall.
