Harvard students’ competitiveness doesn’t stop in section. Even when it comes to fun, several extracurricular groups feel the need to prove that their event is the biggest and baddest of them all. But when it comes to “structured fun,” which event really delivers?

Eleganza
Eleganza is held in the Bright Hockey Center each year, pulling in between 1,300 and 1,600 spectators for their corporate-sponsored fashion show. And they don’t even need to try with a kitschy tagline: “Eleganza. That’s all that’s needed,” says Executive Producer Denetrius J. Charlemagne ’11.

Evening With Champions
Also in the Bright Hockey Center, this two-day event (cheaters!) pulls in around 5000 people. But despite the unfair advantage, co-chair Rafael T. Quintanar ’10 will not back down when he says, “It’s the biggest event this year.”

Pfoho’s 90s Dance
While the 90s dance isn’t as charitable as EWC, which donates to The Jimmy Fund, this bi-annual event attracts roaring crowds each time. Gretchen Marina Krueger ’09, a six-time attendee, is a complete advocate of this dated dance. “It’s seriously legit. Always sells out.” Who can resist the chance to dress up like a Spice Girl?

Yardfest
Despite being one of the most bitched about events every year, Yardfest does well. According to the Harvard Concert Commission this is most definitely “the biggest event of the year,” says HCC president Elizabeth S. Weiss ’09. The real question is, however, how long does each of the 5,000 to 7,000 students who attend stick around after grabbing a soggy hotdog and wishing someone else were performing on stage?
