The Cambridge Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that broke out outside Adams House’s Claverly Hall early Sunday morning. While the investigation is ongoing, a Cambridge Police Department report filed Sunday described the fire as “possible arson.”
The Cambridge Fire Department as well as Cambridge and Harvard police responded to the fire, which was reported at 4:26 a.m., according to the report. A CPD officer wrote in the report that he was told that the fire was discovered by a Securitas supervisor who saw smoke while making his rounds.
Assistant Fire Chief Gerard Mahoney said there was one civilian injury reported from the fire. All 60 students and 10 staff members in the building at the time of the fire were safely evacuated, and the Cambridge Fire Department extinguished the fire, CPD’s report says.
Adams House administrator Marcy Holabaugh could not be reached for comment.
