Unsung Heroes Come Up Big
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—As you cross the state line from Massachusetts to Connecticut, a small sign reads, “Connecticut: We’re full of suprises.” Saturday, Harvard football brought more surprises to the Nutmeg State by pulling out 14 points against Yale in the last seven minutes of The Game.
The end result served as an apt analogy to a season in which the Crimson looked to new names to win games.
Defense Sparks Penn Victory
Two undefeated teams. It was the No. 1 offense in the Ivy League against the No. 1 defense in the FCS. With stakes that high, Harvard coach Tim Murphy put it perfectly heading into the weekend:
“Something’s got to give.”
Harvard Undone By Mental Errors
After Harvard football’s narrow win over Brown in Week 2—a game in which the Crimson racked up 11 penalties—Harvard coached Tim Murphy said that “penalties in general is a concern, and it will be addressed.”
“If you look at us traditionally, we’re team that doesn’t beat itself,” Murphy continued.
