Amaker To Juggle Plethora of Talent
Had the 1,785 fans who crowded into Lavietes Pavilion last weekend for Crimson Madness never seen the Harvard basketball team in action, they would not have been surprised by its size.
But for those who followed the Crimson through its second straight NCAA tournament run in 2012-13, a full bench of 20 players in uniform was a whole new world.
Men's Soccer Gets Clean Slate in Ivy Play
On paper, the Harvard men’s soccer team emerged from non-conference play in a very similar position to last year’s squad.
Both teams took a beating early in the season, suffering from an inability to get on the board. Last year, the start of Ivy League play marked a turning point that the Crimson was unable to capitalize on, falling flat as it failed to pick up a single win against its Ancient Eight opponents.
Softball Excels Despite Inexperienced Roster
Coming into the final weekend against Dartmouth, the Harvard sofball team had to take three of four to emerge the title winner. The Big Green came out victorious, splitting Saturday’s doubleheader and sweeping Sunday’s. With that, Harvard’s three-year North Division title streak came to an end.
For the first time since 2009, the Crimson did not win its division title and did not make it to the Ivy League Softball Championship Series.
Men's Basketball Continues To Rise
SALT LAKE CITY—History will call it a blowout.
On Saturday afternoon, Harvard fell, 74-51, in its worst offensive showing of the season in front of an arena full of Arizona fans chanting “Sweet Sixteen” as they watched their team move on past the third round of the NCAA tournament.
Trio of Bigs will be Key Against New Mexico
Opening the 2012-2013 basketball season, Harvard’s success depended almost entirely on wing Wes Saunders and point guard Siyani Chambers. The sophomore-freshman duo came out hot, with Chambers’s vision and distribution complimenting Saunders’s speed off the dribble and ability to finish in the paint.
For a team with no clear identity after the loss of co-captains Kyle Casey and Brandyn Curry, the Saunders-Chambers combo seemed like the Crimson’s best shot to do offensive damage at the beginning of the season.
