This statement discloses the privacy practices for The Harvard Crimson Online ("Crimson Online").
The
Crimson Online has adopted guidelines which serve as the basis for our
customer and advertiser relationships. These guidelines are subject to
change, and changes in these guidelines will immediately appear on this
page. If you do not agree with the policies in this statement, please
do not use this website.
The Crimson Online is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of Web sites to which it may link.
If
you want to subscribe for home or dormitory delivery of The Harvard
Crimson, The Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, or the New York
Times, you must provide your Harvard University I.D. number, your
Harvard House number, your entryway and room number, your phone and
e-mail address, and your credit card and billing information. If you
wish to place a classified advertisement in the Harvard Crimson, you
must provide full name, phone number, e-mail address, and dormitory
room number. Demographic information (country, zip code, age and
gender) is optional. Subscribers must be 18 years of age. On occasion,
The Crimson Online also collects additional personal information from
subscribers in optional contest and survey forms.
The Crimson
Online also logs IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the
Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. We
may also use IP address logs to track your participation in our
readership polls in order to ensure accurate results. General
demographical information automatically available about users when they
connect to our website may also be gathered for statistical purposes.
The
Crimson Online does collect information in aggregate form that we may,
from time to time, provide to advertisers and other third parties. If
and when this is done, The Crimson Online will not include any
identifiable individual information.
While The Crimson Online
has taken reasonable steps to limit the uses of information provided by
you to those described in this Privacy Statement, we cannot guarantee
that the information will remain permanently secure. There is always a
possibility that your information could be lost due to technical
problems or stolen from our databases. The Crimson Online is not
responsible for any such loss or theft.

Children Under 13 If
you are under age 13, do NOT send us information about yourself,
including your name, address, or e-mail address. We do not knowingly
collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In
the event that we learn that we have collected any personal information
from a child under the age of 13 without verification of parental
consent, we will delete that information from our database.

to The Crimson Online are issued a "cookie" which is a small text file

seeing the same advertisements, being asked to register or made to
re-enter your password every time you visit our site, and provide

The Harvard Crimson makes concerted efforts to protect its servers and

and, as such, The Crimson makes no legal guarantees regarding the
protection of any data that may reside on our servers.
