Since we last wrote on our Tip Box findings, we've seen months of great turmoil for Harvard, from freak weather storms to email hacking to contentious house rankings. One thing is clear: today's students live in uncertain times. Flyby tips from the past few months reflect the self-doubt and agitation of these trying months, as readers voice epistemological concerns (see Feb. 10), criticisms of society's materialism (Oct. 30), and possible drug-related paranoia (Dec. 13).

There's never a dull moment reading through the Flyby Tip Box submissions. From entries that really should have remained between the curious searcher and his/her own hand (see Sept. 10) to unsolicited statements about movies and food stuffs (see Oct. 6 and Oct. 16), the mistaken searches and comments submitted through the Tip Box are always a riot to read, if not one of my finest daily pleasures. Below, a selection from September and October.

It's been a long time since the last "From the Tip Box" post, which means that we have a number of months to look back on. April and May saw multiple mentions of FM's annual Fifteen Hottest (Hairiest?) Freshmen edition as well as allusions to a variety of animals. June seems to have had a culinary focus (perhaps a result of students missing HUDS?) while July brought in, almost exclusively, mentions of sex in its many different forms. September, and thus the beginning of school, seems to have transitioned our readers' attention to more current and pressing events. As always, below you'll find a hilarious mixture of innocent search queries, serious tips, and Flyby-directed comments.

More than a month since the last "From the Tip Box" article, a great deal has happened in the world of Flyby's email account. This past month saw Housing Day and the rankings leading up to Housing Day, which inspired a number of Tip Box comments. Still, some continued to unknowingly use the tool as a search engine and others tried to search only to realize seconds later the error of their ways (see March 28.) All in all, we saw a good balance of innocent searches, Flyby-directed comments, and useful, if not strange, animal-related tips. Below, a selection.

You may have noticed something called the "Tip Box" on the right side of Flyby's homepage. If you type in the Tip Box and click submit, you can send suggestions for blog posts. The problem? Readers frequently seem to think that the Tip Box is actually a search engine, meaning that those queries people ordinarily search for in private are, in actuality, sent directly to those of us behind the scenes at Flyby. Here, for your enjoyment, are some of the words and phrases that Flyby readers have entered over the past few months.
