No. 5 Cornell To Provide Early Test on Road
By CHRISTEN B. BROWN Facing two ECAC opponents this weekend, the Crimson men’s hockey team will attempt to replicate last week’s win over Dartmouth. Harvard (1-0, 1-0 ECAC) will face Colgate (2-2-3) tonight and archrival No. 5 Cornell (1-0) on Saturday. The two New York road contests will be the first games away from the Bright Hockey Center this season. Last year, the Crimson went 0-11-5 away from home. With this in mind, the players acknowledge the added challenge of attaining victories this weekend. [STORY]

Coaches Descend On Lavietes By DENNIS J. ZHENG Harvard men’s basketball may not carry much weight in the sporting world, but its head coach certainly does. Coach Tommy Amaker held his third annual coaches clinic Sunday, welcoming to Lavietes Pavilion over 100 hoops coaches from across New England. Clinic participants—each involved with basketball at the high school level and below—were privy to a typical Crimson practice as well as a lecture from former NBA player and coach Doug Collins, who currently works as a broadcaster for TNT.

Harvard Lands Top Tight End Recruit, Topping Stanford By EMMETT KISTLER The early bird catches the worm, right? That’s what the Stanford Cardinal thought back in June. As of six days ago, the adage was proven false–and in Harvard’s favor. Tight end Blake Barker, the top high school football recruit in Massachusetts, decommitted from the Palo Alto, Calif. school on Oct. 16 and verbally declared his allegiance to the Crimson ranks.

Defender Stands Tall for Crimson
By B. MARJORIE GULLICK
Kwaku Nyamekye has spent much of his Harvard soccer career as an unsung hero, helping to cement the Crimson back line du ring the last four years.
“For a defender to get recognition is a tough thing in soccer,” Harvard coach Jamie Clark said. “Shutouts are associated with goal keepers, and goals are associated with forwards. Defenders often don’t get the recognition they deserve.”
But this weekend, in a pivotal game against No. 21 Dartmouth (8-5-1, 3-2 Ivy), Nyamekye exploded into the spotlight, scoring an early goal for the No. 16 Crimson (11-3-1, 3-1-1) and making a goal-line save to protect the Harvard victory over the Big Green.
