It’s officially holiday season at Eliot House. And if anyone has any doubts about that, all he needs to do is take a peek at the 14-foot Christmas tree that towers over House residents in the dining hall.

Take a trip to Eliot House and you'll find things a bit astir. The reason? Eliot's annual Date Auction, though not scheduled to take place until February, has already sparked significant debate within the House community. The discussion was triggered by a seemingly innocuous source: the House newsletter, The Elephant in the Room, which currently features a Date Auction "pro and con" on each side of the bulletin.

Housing Day is quickly approaching, which means that Houses have been quickly releasing videos in the final days to make a positive impression on freshmen.

Tucked in a quiet corner between Winthrop and Kirkland, Eliot House might at first glance seem small (or perhaps just an extension of the Houses that flank it). Do not be mislead—Eliot offers a wealth of facilities, an exclusive spring formal, and prime real estate on the banks of the Charles River.

With Housing Day just three days away, a menagerie of House mascots have popped up in classes and dining halls around campus.

Housing Day videos have traditionally drawn from popular culture to entertain freshmen, but recent videos seem to have begun a trend to look toward more eclectic sources for inspiration.

Housing day is now a week away, and Cabot is on a roll, having released two new videos in addition to one several days ago. Eliot has now entered the fray with a video mocking other Houses while claiming to be Harvard's top House.
