It may have been senior night for the Harvard field hockey team last night at Jordan Field, but it was the underclassmen who gave the Crimson an opportunity to win the game.
Down 4-2 to University of New Hampshire (12-6, 3-2 America East) in the second half, Harvard sophomores Carly Dickson and Allie Kimmel scored two goals in the match’s final 24 minutes to send the game into overtime.
Alas, the Harvard comeback would not be completed, as UNH scored a golden goal in just the 7th minute of overtime to give the Wildcats the 5-4 victory, dropping Harvard to 5-11 (2-4 Ivy) in the team’s final home game of the season.

Too little, too late is becoming a trend for the Harvard field hockey team.
After getting outscored, 11-0, in the first half of its past two losses against No. 4 Princeton and No. 9 Boston College, the Crimson (5-10, 2-4 Ivy) let Dartmouth (9-7, 4-2) gain a 4-2 advantage in its last conference home game of the season, and a late rally couldn’t hold off the Big Green. Harvard fell, 5-3, dropping its sixth game out of its past seven and ensuring a losing record in conference play.

Nines were wild last night.
For the second game in a row, Harvard field hockey surrendered nine goals as ninth-ranked Boston College (13-4, 1-3 ACC) defeated the Crimson (5-9, 2-3 Ivy) 9-1 last night.
“It definitely wasn’t our best game,” sophomore forward Allie Kimmel said. “I think we just couldn’t match BC’s strength and speed.”

Nina Kucharczyk puts a new spin on being busy, even for a Harvard student. Aside from balancing classes, clubs, and a social life, the New York native is competing on not one, but two varsity athletic teams. Officially recruited for lacrosse, Kucharczyk recently joined the field hockey team as a walk-on after participating in a few practices with the Crimson squad.
The key to her success—love for sports.
