Down 15 strokes and closing in on the lead on the final day of the Ivy League Championships, the Harvard men’s golf team hadn’t felt this type of pressure in a long time.

The Harvard men’s golf team had a chance at taking the Ivy League Championships in the last round of the weekend at the par-71 Galloway National Golf Club.

Heading into the final weekend of conference play, many Harvard teams are still in contention for the title and/or a berth to the NCAA tournament.

Thanks to a strong Sunday showing, Harvard finished second overall, behind Rhode Island, at this past weekend’s Century Intercollegiate, hosted by Yale in Purchase, N.Y.

Only two strokes off the lead entering the final round on Sunday morning, the Harvard men’s golf team had a chance to break Yale’s two-year winning streak at the Princeton Invitational.

On a slightly overcast Sunday morning, Harvard defeated the Big Red, 7-1, in an exhibition match at the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla.

Throughout most of the year, the Crimson has turned in largely middling performances. And in its last match of the fall season, the trend continued.

The Crimson found itself in the middle all weekend. But it wasn’t necessarily in the fairways—Harvard finished in 12th place in a field of 22 teams, beating out four Ivy competitors.

The Harvard men’s golf team got off to a sluggish start on a wet and rainy day at the Course at Yale, playing its way to a fifth-place finish at the MacDonald Cup this past weekend.
