You could spend J-term lounging at home, pretending to enjoy the gaudy sweater Aunt Gertrude made you for Christmas, or you could spend it skiing, playing music with Yo-Yo Ma, and setting world records. Students returning to campus between Jan. 16 - 23 will have a chance to do all this and more during Optional Winter Activities Week (OWAW).

In the first year that undergraduates working in Boston-area internships or studying for graduate school admissions exams will be permitted to stay on campus over winter break, 94 percent of students who applied to stay at Harvard were approved, according to College spokesperson Jeff Neal.

Amid complaints about the lack of appealing programming and poor communication of available opportunities, Optional Winter Activities Week failed to attract the participation of the large majority of the student body, according to a report presented by the Dean of the College.
