After moving into the Top 25 earlier this week, the Harvard wrestling team appeared poised for a breakout performance on Friday night as it faced its toughest opponent thus far, No. 5 Cornell (6-0, 3-0 Ivy). But the highly touted Big Red proved itself worthy of the hype, and the Crimson (4-4, 0-2 Ivy) couldn’t keep pace, falling, 38-7, in Ithaca, NY.

Despite opening its dual season with a 3-1 record, Harvard (4-3, 1-1 EIWA) went 1-2 at Saturday’s Lone Star Duals in Grand Prairie, Texas, sandwiching its 27-12 win against Air Force between its two losses to Appalachian State and No. 12 Oklahoma, 22-21 and 28-9, respectively.

Following a one-win, one-loss performance at Rutgers on Friday, the Harvard wrestling team showed no signs of weariness as it won back-to-back contests over Millersville and Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon in Lancaster, Pa.

In its first action of 2012, the Harvard wrestling team defeated Rider, 22-15, but fell to No. 24 Rutgers in a lopsided 33-12 contest on Friday in East Brunswick, N.J.
